Brown County Democrat Established as The Jacksonian newspaper in 1870 and then merged it into the new Brown County Democrat in 1883. In 2002, Home News Enterprises LLC of Columbus purchased the newspaper. In 2015 Home News Enterprises reached an agreement to sell the Brown County Democrat to a company that owns community newspapers in Texas. The current owner is AIM Media Indiana LLC, an affiliate of AIM Media Texas LLC.


IER (Indiana Environmental Reporter) is an independent reporting organization supported by The Media School at Indiana University and by Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute, in part through funding from Prepared for Environmental Change, a multidisciplinary IU initiative to deliver actionable environmental solutions to communities throughout the state.


ERI (Environmental Resilience Institute) The mission of ERI is to enhance resilience to environmental change in Indiana and the Midwest by accurately predicting impacts and effectively partnering with communities to implement feasible, equitable, and research-informed solutions.


SIREN (Solar Indiana Renewable Network) is an independent, non-partisan, volunteer-run group with a specific focus on promoting solar power including photovoltaic systems (generating electricity), solar water and space heaters for homes, businesses, churches, governmental buildings, and schools.


Square Foot Gardening Square Foot Gardening creator Mel Bartholomew started the Square Foot Gardening Foundation in 1996 with the mission “To help end world hunger one Square Foot at a time.” Now entering its third decade in operation, the Foundation continues Mel’s mission by introducing new gardeners to the Square Foot Method.


PlantPure Communities PPC offers programs, resources, tools, and knowledge to empower community leaders, activists, and advocates, in order to help educate people about evidence-based nutrition that shows that optimal health may be achieved through a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet.
